Talus Loop (on Mount Si)
Talus Loop (on Mount Si)
Features
Overview
Although it starts at the same parking lot and uses a good chunk of the same trail, Talus Loop on Mount Si is an experience all its own.
Perfect for families and those with a quieter and gentler hike in mind, Talus Loop keeps things interesting with varied views, multiple stream crossings, huge tree stumps, and a breathtaking walk across a slope covered with boulders (hence the name).
Join the herd of hikers for 0.7 mile up the Mount Si trail until you reach a very clearly signed departure for the Talus Loop Trail. Head right and immediately enjoy the more intimate trail as it gains elevation through reclaimed forest. At about 1.7 miles, the trail opens up to a eastward view on the slopes of a giant rockfall. Rejoin the Mount Si trail at 2.0 miles and head back down to the parking lot.
Tips: Discover Pass required. Both water and toilets are available at trailhead. Do not leave valuables in car. Expect crowds – this is Mount Si.
