A View From Above & Below

A trip report for Rattlesnake Ledge
Posted by DawnShimabukuro
Road Issues: Road is great
Trail Condition: Easy to navigate
Bugs: Not an issue
Snow Level: No snow

Yesterday, we were reminded of what a blessing it is to live in an area full of such beauty. I have heard of this hike for many years and kept saying, "we need to do that one". Several times on the trail, we stopped just to take in the lush green of the trees and moss; it's like the surroundings were almost fake, from a movie, it was so perfect. When we reached the ledge, "Wow" was the only word that came to mind, and the thought of "how lucky are we to be able to experience the view from here". Needless to say, we took each step carefully on the ledge and even had a chance to sit and just take in the moment (someone was celebrating a birthday next to us, cupcake, candle and all, so we joined in for the Happy Birthday song too :-))...After our descent, we wandered over to the edge of the lake, which was pretty low, and watched the sun setting for a bit. Again, a breathtaking view over the lake. Our growling stomachs led us to the Riverbend Cafe just down the road, which we highly recommend; happy hour 4p-7p and the best semi-spicy chicken wings I've ever had. Next time, we'll take the extra time to head to Snoqualmie Point.

Mt. Si (never saw it from this angle before)

Looking back up to where we were.

Thank you! It's a must try hike, we are going to this place next week.

What a beautiful day! Such a good reminder that sometimes the best trails can be (practically) in our own backyard. Love the photos.
