A Suburban After Work Hike

A Suburban After Work Hike

A trip report for West Tiger No. 3

Road Issues: Road is great
Trail Condition: Easy to navigate
Bugs: Not an issue
Snow Level: No snow

Now we know why all those cars are lined up right off the freeway at exit 20...another great hike with elevation gain. We were surprised when we reached the summit and found that the view of Mt. Rainier was obstructed by the tree growth, as were another pair of hikers who remembered from years ago that it was visible from there. We reached the summit at about 6 PM, so the sun was on its way down, giving us a fantastic sunset view through the clouds. We didn't realize that there was a trail to descend that would have been a (loop) and would have taken us through the talus rocks and bus viewing...we will do that next time. Our up and back time (6 mile round trip) was 2 hours and 50 minutes. Again, we were taking our time going up, but were able to go straight down without stopping at all. Thinking we will try it again next Mon or Tues...the weather forecast claims sunny days!

Almost there...

Matt taking a summit water break!

We could almost make out the pilots first name on his name tag...it seemed so close!

On our way back down, the low clouds started to float away and we could see the city below (almost).
