Beautiful Adams Climb

Beautiful Adams Climb

A trip report for Mount Adams South Climb
Posted by Newman733
Road Issues: Minor potholes
Trail Condition: Easy to navigate
Bugs: Not an issue
Snow Level: Only after 7,000 ft

Mt Adams is such a great hike. The drive is a bit long from Seattle, but well worth it. Stopped in at the ranger station on 9/7/13 and they said they had 65 people purchase the volcano pass that day. We chose to summit on Monday and lunch counter was very clear, only a few other groups. It was really windy and heard of 3 tents uprooting and flying away. There is a water source at the base of the steep snowy incline right next to lunch counter. Woke up at 3am to make the ascent. I highly recommend an early start time. Other groups that started around 7 were dying in the heat when they were about half way up and envious of our glissading. Oh, and one last note, I put bugs as not and issue only because I'm not sure if spray would help against bees. There are a ton of bees. Everywhere. I had 5 in my tent at one point. Best defense was trying to ignore them.

I don't know. I just might love all of these photos best. Incredible. Thanks Greg!

Thanks for the report. I love your first picture. It sounds like very strong winds! I'll make a mental note to stake down the tent big-time.
