A New Year's Jaunt in the Woods

A New Year's Jaunt in the Woods

A trip report for Boeing Creek Loop

Road Issues: Road is great
Trail Condition: Easy to navigate
Bugs: Not an issue
Snow Level: No snow

There's no better way to get rid of the stir-crazies than a walk in the woods...even better when said woods are practically outside our front door. With three kids and a puppy in tow, we headed to Boeing Creek Park for some meandering. We weren't the only ones with the same great idea; the trail was pretty busy, with lots of dogs along the way. We started off following the Hidden Lake Trail; while signage indicated that the trail was closed, we had no issues getting to Hidden Lake...along with everyone else. The trail was definitely wet at times, but totally passable. One of my favorite things about this urban hike is the variety of interconnected trails. We take a different route through the park every time.

One word of caution: we're dog lovers over here, but have found that this love is not shared by some others on the trail. The City of Shoreline does require all dogs to be on leash; and while this rule is commonly broken, we've seen the wrath of a trail runner or two who is less than happy being chased by leashless dogs.

Heading out with three kids and a Berner puppy. And yes, my daughter is wearing her skirt as a shawl.

Checking out Hidden Lake.
